Pleasant Street Apothecary helps patients manage the complexities of living with HIV/AIDS by offering a wide range of HIV pharmaceuticals, a complete selection of non-HIV drugs, limited over-the-counter items, an experienced staff, high tech services, and reliable home delivery for AIDS Care patients as well as for people working and living in the area. The pharmacy atmosphere is open and welcoming, with a cozy waiting area complete with coffee service.
And it couldn't be more convenient. One minute you're with your doctor, the next you're headed out the door with your monthly prescriptions in hand. Pleasant Street Apothecary hours of operation were developed to complement AIDS Care's hours and to provide weekend service:
Monday - Friday: 8:30 am - 6:00 pm
Tuesday: 8:30 am - 7:30 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am - Noon
If complicated drug regimens are the mainstays of HIV and AIDS treatment, ease and accessibility are the mainstays of Pleasant Street Apothecary service. As a patient of AIDS Care, you are served regardless of your geographic location, either in conjunction with receiving other services on site or through mail or other personal delivery services. In addition, although most AIDS Care patients are covered by insurance for medications, the pharmacy is committed to serving you regardless of your income. If you are not covered by insurance, you will be referred to an AIDS Care Case Manager who will assist with insurance coverage and/or pharmaceutical provider scholarships.
Pleasant Street Apothecary's two registered pharmacists have over 40 years combined service with HIV patients. They are aware that the side effects of HIV treatment can be particularly difficult to manage, and they know about the many drug combinations, interactions, and advances in care. They know how to work courteously and compassionately with people of all backgrounds and needs. Joined by an excellent support staff they offer a wide range of services, including:
- Therapeutic drug monitoring
- Clinical pharmacy counseling in a private environment
- Vigorous monitoring of drug-drug and drug-nutrient interactions
- Compliance monitoring
- Assistance in choosing over-the-counter medications
- Assistance locating community resources for other medical supply needs
- Expert assistance in helping HIV patients manage complex third party prescription drug coverage plans
And if Spanish is your primary language, AIDS Care staff provides translation services as needed.
