Support Groups

Support GroupsAIDS Care offers the following support groups:

AIDS Care General Support Group
Need a safe place to talk? Come and join our AIDS Care Support Group every Tuesday from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm. Learn how others with similar concerns are managing their lives while sharing your own experiences in a supportive, confidential environment.

HIV & Hepatitis C Co-Infection Support Group
The HIV & Hepatitis C Co-infection support group for AIDS Care patients meets Tuesdays from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm. The group provides support by helping co-infected individuals understand the unique treatment involved, how to make healthful decisions, and prevention strategies.

Men's Support Group
Conducted by Dr. Dennis Foley, this group meets on a monthly basis to address the needs of men living with HIV. Please contact Dr. Foley at dennis_foley@urmc.rochester.edu for more information, or to find out the day and time of this month’s session.

Positive Divas Women's Support Group
Positive Divas is a support group for women who are HIV positive to share experiences, participate in group activities, and to gain support from their peers. The group meets every Wednesday from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Positively Alive Support Group
All HIV positive women are encouraged to join the Positively Alive support group, which is held at AIDS Care every Thursday from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm. The group offers one-on-one peer mentoring, group activities, events, and educational opportunities.

Treatment Education Group
The treatment education group meets on Mondays from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm to provide an educational setting for topics that include HIV (HAART) medications, HIV disease in relation to other diseases and nutritional aspects of living with HIV. The group is open to the HIV positive community, and is not exclusive to AIDS Care patients and clients. Spanish speaking staff is available to interpret and snacks are served.
